Carlsborg, WA— Clallam County resident Brian Pruiett has formally announced his run for Washington State Representative, Legislative District 24.

“During this time of extreme trial for us on the Olympic Peninsula we have been overwhelmed by the irresponsible mismanagement of a huge surplus of state funds from three years of boom economy. Begging the federal government for money and medical help while our most vulnerable workers suffer is proof we need new legislators. As a retired Army officer, retired federal employee, and a small business owner I am dedicated to restoring the resiliency of our Peninsula to a vibrant, strong business and employment climate healthy for all of us.

I am focused on quality of education that provides a good career, giving families school choice, and re-prioritizing funds for better management. I am against state income and carbon taxes. We need to enable our landlords to provide housing for who needs it, not harm the housing industry. I am pro-business and pro-union, and for a future which offers our children a self-sufficient, happy life and not condemn them to a hut or tent in a parking lot. We must both reinvigorate our local businesses and restore environmental health as well as halting large city water pollution of our marine ecosystem that has been harming our Orcas and other marine life.

I am committed to making progress to establish the quality of life we are entitled to, and to stop the human degradation that current legislation has passed which is ruining lives of families, communities, and harming our precious Olympic Peninsula lifestyle. Join me and together we will accomplish this vision.”

About Brian:

Brian Pruiett is a PNW native who is committed to a lifetime of public service. He combined dual careers in the US Army and federal civil service. In the Army he began as a private and retired after 34 years as a battalion commander in the rank of lieutenant colonel, completing four command tours, and two deployments to Afghanistan as a senior advisor to Afghan forces.

As a career civil servant with the Bureau of Land Management he led a diverse team of environmental specialists. He was instrumental in the rewriting of requirements and regulations for environmental policy for the Oil and Gas Industry in both the Clinton and Bush Administrations, often having to resolve issues with previous regulation that had been based on inadequate research and faulty analysis. His work resulted in a win-win situation facilitating Industry expansion while improving the environment.

His work as an Inspector General gave him extensive experience in determining inefficiency, corruption, and criminal activity to improve organizational efficiency and financial management for the military. He spent three years as an IG in the US and 8 months mentoring Afghanistan Army IGs.

Brian and his wife currently own a small organic farm in Clallam County and have a small business that invests in real estate. Brian is an enthusiast for the outdoor PNW lifestyle: hiking, fishing, crabbing, and volunteer time to the community as captain of a CERT team.
